A south bound train derailed off the tracks two blocks from my home on February 8, 2011.. Canton,NY.
They are just now cutting up 2 out of the 6 box cars that flipped over because their wheels were ripped right off them. So I went last night 05/18/2011 to take some pics of the cut up metal for some art shots..
This one I found so fascinating and beautiful because we all know there are many artist who love to paint on trains, this is a piece of ply wood with an artist painting, and the wood is charred around the edges, and the torch cutting workers have laid it in the center of all this cut up metal.. I love it,, and I just may go back and take it,, and preserve it.. it is art.. hope you all enjoy what I saw and still see..

CSX train derails in heavy snow
Train in Canton leaves track but no cars overturn
TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 8, 2011
CANTON — Six freight train cars derailed in the village about 6:30 p.m. tonight between Park and Miner streets.
A southbound CSX train was going through the village when the box cars derailed next to the St. Lawrence County highway department building. No cars were overturned, but one box car lost a set of wheels. Several of the box cars were buried in deep snow.
The railroad crossings on Park and Miner streets were down, but vehicles were going through the crossings. A CSX crewman on scene said the cleanup will take some time.
Emergency officials said they were assessing the situation and have closed Park Street until further notice. The snow was deep on and around the tracks.
It wasn’t immediately known whether the train conductor was aware of the derailment.

I am a self taught artist and have drawn and painted since I could hold crayons or a pencil in my hands..
My brain is an attic filled with treasures yet to be explored or recreated.. I am a Veteran,a wife, a mom, a grandmother, a sister, a daughter and a teacher!!! My pallet is full of life, color and energy.. I hope you will see and feel that in all of my artwork.

you think, I do not know if one of the workers placed it there to take, but if it is there, then I say free for the taking, it needs a home that will appreciate it,, it was a cargo train, and thank goodness no chemicals,, lumber and stuff.. but I think the box cars that went over were empty, it was quite the big news in this little town,, especially when you are snowed in.. thanks for your lovely comment my dear friend, peace and love linmarie
