found this too be pretty that our Electric Co. marks the cedar poles with these numbers,, never noticed them before,, guess I wasn’t paying attention,, since our ice storm in 1998.. they have been still busy replacing poles and lines and obviously now marking them .. fantastic,,the NM is for Niagara Mohawk,, which now in upstate NY is National GRID,, at least that’s who I pay my electric bill too,, wont get into the politics of where my money goes as long as they don’t shut my lights and computer off… LOL!!

  • the ice storm of 1998 devestated this area,, so I think with each new pole that went up they were numbered and an acurate map of their electric path was finally updated,, we read in the news that some poles were from the early 1920’s , should have been replaced yrs, ago,, so the icestorm snapped them like toothpicks,, we were without power for 7days and we live in the village, family members out in the country went up to 45days with no power,, we all became pilgrims of survival,,,

    WOW.. the longest for us was 3 days.. that was bad enough.. We live in the village also.. I dont even know how long the other parts were out… we were hit with a tornado.. It is all scary stuff.. it is amazing how we rely on electricity. :))

  • oh,, thats right your in tornado area,, man that stinks too,, do you have a basement too get too,, or storm shelter,, here its just the snow and cold and rain…

    We have a basement now but when these went threw we didnt.. it was scary..
