In Sept. of ‘09, we went to New Orleans (“Nah-lins” to the natives) for my stepdaughter’s wedding. At the Cafe Du Monde, this gentleman was wailing away on a clarinet—he was amazing. We commented that he resembled Louis Armstrong. He was thrilled that we noticed, as he claimed to be a distant cousin of Satchmo. We fell in love wth New Orleans—especially the people and their music. One only had to walk a few yards, and find more amazing performers, pouring their hearts and souls out in song.
Once again, New Orleans is facing a tragedy of monumental proportions as the oil spill washes up in their wetlands, destroying vegetation, wildlife, and their shrimping/oyster/fishing industry, and their way of life.
