There was a wonderful little coffe shop/cafe in the town where I teach. The owner of the store and I had a lot in common—we were both Registered Nurses who’d gone back to college, and/or decided on different careers. I had become an art teacher, while she’d opened a coffee shop. My Wonderland hubby and I frequented the shop. Her brand of coffee was called “Wild Horses”, so I depicted two rearing horses in the steam.
She and I became friends. Then another change happened—she is now teaching health classes while getting her teaching degree, and works at the same school as me!
I did this painting for her a few years ago, which hung in the Off Center Cafe. I included the quotes:“I never drink coffee for lunch…I find it keeps me awake for the afternoon.”—Ronald Reagan.
“I believe humans get a lot done, not because we’re smart, but because we have thumbs so we can make coffee—Flash Rosenburg.
She sold the cafe last year, and I asked her to take the painting with her. The cafe’s just not the same, but I am glad to see her at school every day.
