I paint with oils and acrylics. I am inspired by dreams I have, the mystical elements of nature, and by interesting people. In most paintings I do I try to incorporate some aspect of my spirituality, which is the most important part of my life. My goal is to make paintings that help to heal and that depict the spirituality of nature.

My favorite artists are Vermeer , Manet, Alex Grey, Nathan Spoor, and mars-1. If you are interested in spirituality and art then please read “The Mission of Art” by Alex Grey. It is an incredible book and a helpful guide.

“There was never mystery,
But ‘tis figured in the flowers;
Was never discreet history,
But birds tell it in the bowers.”
-Ralph Waldo Emerson

“Let artists honor the values that make life worth living, that they might plant seeds of transformative power in the field of art. The mind of the artist should always be a stronghold of free will. May the mind of the artist find a home in the divine will.”
-From “The Mission of Art” by Alex Grey

still untitled 3.2009

For Allyson

Advice is going to come down in torrents / some will beat and tap like hail, / drive you indoors and keep you there. / some will trickle in soft splashes / that barely ripple, / so here’s my hopes …

Untitled 12.2008

rank emotion, smell the rising ocean / oh you clawing dragging thing / sloth-toed elephant flapping / butterfly wings march out / the gate I’ve carved / struggle through the ark’s window bars /…

only hummingbirds and bumblebees

Pollinator’s reunion! a sweet drink after / a cold and huddled wait. / I grew for you / mounded in dirt, chilled to a seamless / discarded bead point I broke from keeping in, / a quickened burst …

so many woods

Our future was a close / dark pine grove, / mirage seeping sap through the window panes / to lay like a trickled film / atop our sleeping. / You dreamt the timber tough to build your barricade / I …
