Walk-In Closet
When I was little my walk-in closet is where I would hide when life got too big for me to handle. I sometimes wish I had one today. There is something to be said for the old days of being able to tuck yourself in a small space and wait for the storm to pass.
A six by five fortress
Vacuumed vault of
bears and beads
and letters stored in
shoe boxes on shelves
Metal and plastic hangs with
slender shoulders to
model meager
riches and rags
A curtain of clothes
conceals the corner
the bomb shelter
on the third floor
Safe and secure here
squeezing myself in
behind the laundry basket
