Swings have been prominent in my life lately as my husband and I recently took our grandsons to the park to play on them. We also reminisced about the ‘good old days’ when our children used to swing on the old tyre in our garden where we used to live. It seemed the right time to combine my trees with a swing and I wonder if you can remember the excitement you felt when you had your first swing…painted in my watercolour and ink style.

Tree Song
There is magic in the air
so let me take you there
to the tree on the hill,
where the swing is still.
Where the fading sun tickles the leaves
and they shimmer on a warm summer breeze.
The end of day will soon shuffle in
to the sound of a bird singing its hymn.

I fell off the swing my brothers and I made when we were little and hurt my spine….didn’t stop me going back on them throughout my childhood…lovely painting Linda…very romantic scene…
oh dear no wonder you can remember that Janis…but glad it did not stop you having more swings..:) I used to love swinging high…not any more though, as with me, age brings caution….glad you like it…

Wow Linda, I didn’t know you were a grandmother, you look so young! It certainly must be joyful reliving childhood again through your grandchildren. In a sense the natural world is full of instruments; whether it be the percussion of the rain hitting the ground, or like in this case the wind and bell-like sounds of the leaves. The colours are beautiful. You know what is funny though; you may remember not too long ago one of your one tree paintings (which also had prominent use of colour) reminded me of one of mine. Same is happening here; I have a piece with a tree called ‘Song of the Wind’ – although that is more of a digital painting; and I have a girl sitting on a branch as opposed to a bird hanging from one.
thank you for your compliment and comment Mui-Ling…yes I do have two grandsons and another one on the way due January…very exciting! I really enjoy painting trees..and with lots of colour…..not sure if you have seen my WishingTree one with a girl sitting on a branch painted some time ago and now sold..? I will go see your digital one..enjoy your day :)
