For some time now I have wanted to try my hand at a coffee painting after seeing works by fellow bubbler friend Dianne . Looking at my portfolio I thought a fun work of art for my children’s collection would be a good idea, before I concentrate on a pet commission. So meet Petal the Pig and Dolly the Duck who are farmyard friends.

I began with Petal on her own, (as you can see in the description) painted on a pale wishy washy background and thought she would look more stunning on black. With limited time I took a shortcut and cut her out and pasted her on to black pastel paper, but before doing this, thought she looked a little lonely so popped her friend Dolly on her back.

Which version do you prefer I wonder?

Farmyard Friends
“Come on Dolly jump on my back
Let’s go play along the dirt track.
There’s lots of puddles where we can get muddy,
A great day out with my best buddy!
Then when night calls and the sun is done,
We’ll find our way home after hours of fun”!

This is so cool! I have a huge smile on my face right now. I’m so glad you finally tried coffee! Petal and Dolly look fantastic!

  • thank you so much Dianne…it took me a while…thought of it yesterday just had the urge! I really must get on to my commission but we had my daughter’s ‘surprise’ kitchen tea on the a busy one! coffee was very easy to work with…and the smell was rather comforting ☺

I like her on both, but I prefer the painterly background…the black one would be perfect as a Teeshirt…great painting Linda..

  • I thought you would Janis ☺…I will pop that one on too later…no harm in having both up is there or is that too much?…I do intend to pop her on a T shirt too. …thank you so much Janis..

WOW Linda… this is wonderful! Love the one with the painted background because of the light and I agree with Janis about black for Ts. Also wondered how Petal and Dolly would look a bit off centre, to the right, to create more negative space in front of them where they are going (in the black background version).

I didn’t know there was ‘another’ Petal the Pig! The one Chris and I met were in a house sit and she was a 350kg pet. Loved her, her intelligence and sense of humour. Please keep us posted on ‘your’ Petal :-) a fave for sure :-)))

  • Hi Baina …I have always liked the name Petal for a pig when you told me about yours…so this is my version lol. It was either going to be Polly or Petal! In the original Petal is stuck right in the middle so hard to change that one now ☺..thanks for the suggestion tho. hope all well in your neck of the woods…we have been flat out this end! catch up soon…
