There is so much despair and sadness here at the moment due to the Queensland Floods in Australia and my thoughts are with those suffering overwhelming losses.
There is a lot of sadness in the world, whether it be from a cruel act of nature, an illness, poverty, or war etc. I felt the need to express my feelings with my paints.
I had an idea of what I wanted to create and placed the undiluted paint directly on wet paper and formed the painting around it adding touches of acrylic and gold pen for highlights.

Light in the Darkness
There is nothing but despair within and around,
Thoughts darken, like a night forest ground.
You see a glow and you quicken your pace,
All is not lost as light touches your face.
A dove soars high, a sign of hope,
And you follow this bird to a safer place.
