COMMISSION of Australian Yellow Tailed Black Cockatoos. Acrylic on Canvas 49 × 70cm.

These stunning birds are often seen in pairs, or flocks and enjoy munching on pine cones and seeds. We sometimes see them flying overhead and have had one visit our garden. Here the female at the top of the branch has her eye on the handsome male below. They mate for life and it seems she has found her match!

I notice she has her mouth open – probably banging on about the shelves he promised to put up.
Does that make me aviarsexist? Hope not, because this is a wonderful study.

  • Thank you John and a very funny comment indeed! You are not alone my husband, also John, said it looks like he is probably being told what to do! ☺ I like to think she is wowed by how handsome he is!

Glad to see you came up with the perfect title for this wonderful painting Linda. These two look as though they’ve been very busy stripping the bark off the branch. You’ve given these cockatoos so much character, nice work

  • Thank you so much Linda..to tell you the truth I could not make my mind up and can thank my daughter for this clever title! This painting will join my Major Mitchells and Kookaburra Charm on the wall of the same client to make a trio – they have been busy with the bark indeed…appreciate your support best wishes
