Sundown

Linda Callaghan

Sundown

Loose wet in wet watercolour on Arches paper 8×10”. I dropped the colours where I wanted and shaped the painting. My main aim was to create a landscape out of my mind using brilliant colours.

Sundown

The day is over the air is still
the sun is setting over the hill.
Rainbow colours fill the land
Created by the sun’s hand.

The light is slowly falling
and the night is softly calling.
The pallet of colours will surely fade
and soon all will be covered in shade.

Linda Callaghan

This was painted to go with Twilight but was not sure whether to load but decided to today.

  • Patty Vogler

    Patty Vogler

I’m glad you decided to load it! That bit of blue on the horizon (ocean?) adds a nice depth to the painting. The flash of red…is it a field of poppies?...a river? A path to follow? I like that my imagination gets a workout with this one. Beautiful work, as always!

  • Linda Callaghan replied

I am glad you related to this one Patty….pale distant hills were my aim at the time…but ocean works really well! and the flash of red is a path to follow…..thank you so very much!

Wow, Linda, I wonder how I missed this one. I liked these minimalistic creations. I would like to suggest Roland Roycraft or Neeta Ingle books. I think, you have great reservoir of talent waiting to be explored. Arches papers are too costly for us but results are fabulous. Keep painting, your expressions have lots of amusement value.

  • Linda Callaghan replied

thank you so much Arnene… i think I am somewhat delighted as to what turns out with this method of painting..I loved creating the latest ones I did…will make a note of the books. Thanks so very much. I do remember telling you I was going to try it one day as your art inspired me to give it a go…! :-)
