Cascade

Cascade

A pastel painting on Black card paper of just one of the beautiful cascading waterfalls that we have here in Australia. Australia’s waterfalls are a natural wonder and they are hidden gems of the landscape.

Deep in the forest lies a gem to be found
cascading water downward bound
sunlight dappling between the trees
nature at its best will always please….

Wonderful natural looking scene. A fine pastel work, Linda. Into my faves.
If you ever see Japanese animated films, they have this look, where moving water is slightly blurred, and with the colours like this, of surrounding moss covered rocks and foliage.

  • Linda Callaghan replied

thank you so very much Colin for the your lovely comment and fav. I am so glad you like it. Yes I was trying to portray the mist of the water at the back of the painting….will keep an eye out next time I see a Japenese movie.,..it does have an oriental feel to it.

    Linda,
Before I went onto RedBubble I was clear on what I wanted to paint – TREES, valleys, more trees and oh, nearly forgot TREES… But now I have so many ideas ranging from still life to surrealism works. It’s a dilemma for me.

Just as well I am going on holiday tomorrow.. I need to clear the cobwebs and get real with what I want to paint next. I will probably dabble in other genres but I will stick with Oils as a medium.

I believe if you stick with what you are comfortable with (could be with any or many mediums), the more work you do the better you will get at your craft and certainly it will come easier and freer. Good luck deciding

    Cheers
    DIKO

  • Linda Callaghan replied

Thanks so much Diko for those wise words….at the moment I am just going with the flow and still teaching myself. I do love trees and have noticed that I sneak a tree in here and there when painting lol…Enjoy your holiday and I look forward to seeing more of your art on your return…..take care…
