Fantasia

Linda Callaghan

Fantasia

A loose, colourful, watercolour on Arches paper created from my imagination to brighten your day! Painted wet on wet and I let the colours do their own thing and then I shaped the painting. A magical place to visit when we dream.

“Please come take my hand,
and walk beside me into my fantasy land”....

See the rainbow colours all around,
it is so peaceful here and the only sound
is water lapping gently, trees swaying in the breeze,
leave your worries behind for what you see will please.

The very heart of your being
will not believe what you are seeing.
Your spirit will be lifted your soul will start singing,
it all makes sense now, life is for loving, sharing and giving.

  • Janis Zroback

    Janis Zroback

I love this Linda…I spent a long time gazing at it…it’s great that you have loosened up and allowed the colours to flow…it’s what watercolour is all about…you let it go then rein it in in places….also great using the back runs as part of the landscape…this is using it at it’s fullest capacity…wonderful work…
I paint from my imagination 99% of the time…that way the viewer can add their own story and by not making comparisons to the actual place creates a dialogue with the painting…..

  • Linda Callaghan replied

thanks heaps Janis…value your opinion so was wondering what you would think. Yes I just let it do what it wanted had a vague idea of where things were going to be, did not dilute the paint hardly at all and added the bridge, trees, grass, flowers later…then wondered whether I should load it up or not..glad I did it seems to be liked. Thanks again.

When you have the time, just get out some paper, wet it, and drop colour in…let it dry and see what emerges…do it without any plan or thought of what it’s going to be…then create a painting out of it…I have an article to post about that…I might post it tonight…

  • Linda Callaghan replied

thanks Janis…I will do that soon…I really do need to get some more watercolours too…the ones I have are nearly all dried up! would so love to dedicate more time to my painting! thank you so very much for your advice and time I am so willing to learn more….
