I just did some learning this morning ~ the true “flower” of the Poinsettia is not the broad leaves that I (and many others too), but is the cyanthium (definition below)
cy·ath·i·um n An inflorescence consisting of a cuplike cluster of modified leaves enclosing a female flower and several male flowers, as in the poinsettia.
Even without this knowledge ~ the centerpiece just blew me away ~ as most discovery does when taking a closer look into flowers…just endless wonder and beauty is what drew me into the macro world… and keeps there!
