One of the great road trips in Australia is to travel from the eastern states to Western Australia. (or vice versa)This trip takes you across the Nullarbor Plain, along the longest straight stretch of road in Australia – the 90 mile straight and along the cliffs that are the Great Australian Bight.
During 2010 I traveled this road on my Harley with my husband and a group of friends on bikes, it was a magic trip! A 7,000k round trip, 10 days to travel from Wangaratta to Albany, 7 days in Albany, then 7 days to get home.

Super photo Linda – a scene I know well, having travelled back and forth across the Nullarbor several times during the 1980’s with caravan in tow. We used to like to get an early start from whatever caravan park we were in and then Betty would cook a breakfast whilst we were parked at one of the lookouts – that was magic too!
    Great work
    Take care
    Peter

  • It really is a trip that everyone should do, we’ve had three crossings now, there and back to Albany and the homeward stretch of our round Australia trip, always on a motorbike. There’s probably been little change since you traveled in the 80’s. Although if you’re ever traveling that way again I really would recommend Fraser Range, its a sheep station and they have created a caravan park on the grounds to bring in extra income. They do tours of the station and are very friendly.

    Thanks for your comment Peter
