Ovens River, Wangaratta, Vic, Australia

This photograph was taken in the early 1990s with Kodak High Speed Infrared film. I have a vast collection of negatives and I’ve had some of them professionally scanned to eliminate the need for a darkroom. One of the features of this film is a very grainy appearance.

Love the shape of this large tree, backed by all those smaller ones. Wonderful shapes and detail!

  • Thanks for the lovely message Mel, you know I don’t think I ever printed this photo when I had the darkroom, this is its first outing. (only took 20 years)

  • I’m so pleased you like them Sandra. I adore infrared photographs and it’s been like catching up with old friends having these photos scanned to digital so that they can be in my online gallery

I like the grainy film effect in this.Beautiful lighting and tones.

  • It has the graininess because it was shot on Infrared film and that’s a feature of the film. I have hundreds of negatives and I will gradually get some of the best of them scanned so that I don’t need a darkroom to produce a print. I’m glad you like it Pat, thank you for your message
