“Sewing Memories 2”
original oil has sold

It’s spring and I guess I am in the sewing mood!
Remembering times with my mom.

I have been a painter and sculptor for over 43 years professionally and after all this time, I still love it. It is challenging, makes me think about the world and keeps me connected to life.
My art is a mix of realism and impressionism with a bit of humor thrown in.
I am available for commission work- just ask!

These look wonderful; better than a photograph, yet hyper realistic. I can’t imagine the lettering you did with such fine lines. Great work, Linda!

  • Yeah, the lettering was a bit nerve racking :) My mum was so good at sewing. She taught me a LOT!

Realistic indeed. Wow Linda, skillfully arranged and beautifully painted. Of course with excellent detail.

  • Hey dude,My mum was the one who got me into sewing. She was really good at it and use to make a lot of my clothes when I was a kid. In those days it was cheaper to make clothes than buy them. Sure is different today!

gee super fantastic art Linda ,I just can’t do fine art! paint goes gluggy on the brush for me .
    love your composition too.

I sewed all my life can make anything,[ actually sewed for money for years incorporating art ] as all the relies too. but can’t even buy decent fabric now. I still have rolls of fabric left over but not what I want for me.. and boxes of threads and ‘stuff’ ,oh for fun an industrial overlocker can’t be beaten!

  • Virginia, Nice to hear from you and about your sewing experiences. I use to make clothes for people many years ago but did so much I got really tired of it and quit sewing for years. I finally got over it (thank heavens) and got back to the joy of sewing :) I mostly do sewing when I make my art doll sculptures, that;s really fun!!
So, are you making stuff now? What to do with all that fabric? :)
    Thanks for commenting~

not much I had to quit I ended up with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia 20 years ago , from an illness [Legionella ], and it hurts to sit, also i get extreme tiredness after 4 hours or so of just being up and about. have not much idea about fabric what to do ,moslty cheesecloths /muslin type, some bright yellow and green cottons, some stretch that was good for older ladies but now outdated , I must measure it out and put on Gumtree , [not Ebay as they charge too much. ] I gave the Salvoes and RSPCA dozens of garments made up, painted tee shirts , I had a nice shop in the local markets but ended up I couldn’t even get out of bed so just packed it up and closed the door one day, sold the space which was good as I bought decent camera desk and nice computer! [about 11 years ago now] I can still paint , most days , use the machines mainly for mending husband trousers,as he works "messing "about with mechanical restoring cars adn ‘stuff’ Lol …things and tears them a lot. .
