The Snake Charmer

What to do on the day, that a snake broke into the patch where deep thoughts are grown,
and sought them as prey, a vicious snake, looking to steal the rewards other’s had sown.
Licking their ears, and slithering across their lips, these starry eyed, dreamers, shook in their sleep.
Whispering lies beyond it’s years, flaunting a prospect for the future, that it knew it couldn’t keep.
This snake slithered and giggled, it bolstered muscles, and caressed egos considered weak.
Into strong hearts, it wriggled, and sat. Not knowing exactly what it wanted to seek.
One by one, they slowly began to fall, under the snake’s charm, and heeding her every bidding.
They turned on one another, each and all, none wanting or even contemplating her ridding.
She took them all for a ride, convinced they were her one and only,
Blinding them with lies she was able to hide, she finally was able to conquer feeling lonely
Until one day, another dreamer arrived.
Only this one had something he had survived.
A similar snake, that had manipulated his verses,
Turned his beautiful magic, into curses.
She had taken his apple heart,
and rotted it out, leaving nothing but a smoldering chart,
Of every action she had taken, to infect his helpless mind.
He had seen every emotion faken, had seen past her trying to act kind.
You see, when his heart was finished with it’s smolder,
It began to calcify, into something much bolder.
A heavy heart that drug him down within, was now pure gold,
He would never fall for another falsity again, only with true love could it be sold.
So when this snake approached him comfortingly and seducing with her flaunts,
He appraised her accordingly, and retaliated with his own taunts.
Slowly he began to realize, that it was his duty to awaken this crowd,
Enslaved by the corruption in her eyes, he said all they had allowed.
Unable to break her charm, he realized it was his job to change her heart,
And slowly he worked his smarm, convinced her, he was her heart.
That he was what she sought, telling her everything she wanted to hear,
Slowly, but surely she was bought, and began to really fear,
Losing him for she had found, everything she had ever asked for.
Giving the crowd, her departing sound, she gave herself to him, and asked for all that was in store.
Taking her into his heart of gold, he imprisoned her and took his life,
Never getting the chance to grow old, never asking for a wife,
He thew his body into an ocean deep, knowing with such a heavy heart he would never be rose,
He took with him a secret he was made to keep, the truth of the story of love, explaining why it’s secret no one knows.
