Morning dew glistening in the pale light of dawn.
The sun beckoning over the horizon a golden yawn.
From our dreams and sleep we venture forth.
Starting our lives, the day running it’s course.
Seconds pass, and minutes fly,
as another day of your life slips on by.
Our words and actions slip out,
while our minds reveal what we’re truly about.
Empty eyes and vacant smiles,
reveal all of their base wiles.
A nation united through ignorance,
blindly seeing their governments malfeasance.
Desperately asking what life means,
we constantly watch our TV screens.
Eyes staring wide,
mouths masticating our swollen pride.
We live to buy, and buy to survive.
Eating prepackaged frozen food,
with our minds full of the lewd,
we take pills to alter our mood.
News to make us hear,
Insurance for all the fear.
Religion guides us all,
to the will of a higher call.
Blindly seeking eternity,
We sell our souls for free.
Filling our time with celebrities lies,
we lose focus on our own lives.
New cars make you who you are,
Cell phones let you manipulate from afar.
Shopping to lighten our mood,
Our lives revolve around our food.
Blankly staring into our TV,
We forget to Be.
What bothers me the most about life today as an American.
