Behind the Curtain

The curtains were heavy as she drew them closed she remained still
and waited
Turing once again toward her enemy/friend
(Mirror Mirror)
she drew a deep breath in and opened her eyes.

She waited for her life to accept her
as she was
right now
No lies.

Roots run deep says her fear
of not doing

‘enough’

not being worth

‘all the fuss’

The curtains were heavy as she drew them closed she remained still
and waited
Turning away from all she’d built up

She gave up

and decided
today

she
was enough

just as she was

right now

No lies.

Artist's Description

Cathy Walker is a new artist I have met in the last few months and I admire her work as well as this inspired piece with a title to die for:

The curtains were heavy as she drew them closed
by she remained still and waited

.
I have been working on this poem for a while and seeing her the other day I pulled it back out and completed it.
Thank you Cathy, your work feels like life.
