Seeds of Me

There is a tender part of me
Not exposed for awhile,
Death makes it shine as only death can
Softly focused on the ground
Rotting flesh
Uncovering seeds that bear fruit

Fruit of forgiveness for lack of trust
Fruit that makes a day seem
Like bare essence and wonder
Fruit that drips down my shirt
And stains it
But I wear the shirt again
Because that stain helps me remember
A day when I floated downriver
Loosing my paddles because I
Knew they would keep me
Away from this moment
Away from this part of me that

Death makes shine as only death can

We seem to think we will never know
What it is like after we die until ‘that moment’.

But I see death every day,
Everyday that I am reborn
Again
With new desires claiming
My new lease on life
I see the wonder of the everlasting promise
Because parts of me die
The ones I hold onto
Shuttering and kicking the walls in feigning
Like it was my last breath or my keeper of
Paradise
Lo,
There I am
Again,
Delivered back to the nest of my own
Heart,
A better person for allowing the burnt flesh to
Heal and the stagnate opinions to transcend my
Own understanding,
Here I stand again and again day after day

To die and be reborn without death… that has got to be the most amazing way to understand life.
Your depth is immeasurable. Did I spell that right?

i love the way your work begins so rooted in the now and then transitions to more surreal moments, somehow (and I can;t explain how you do this) rooted in a shared reality. WOW!!

  • linaji replied

If you were here I would smother you in kind kisses!! thank you for the feeling part of my work being embraced by your Being.. now that for me is Wow!

I think what I like most about your writing is the continuity of raw emotion and honesty (beautifully expressed poetically). If anyone ever tells you that you are dishonest, it would only be because they cannot see beyond the shadows cast by their own eyes.

  • linaji replied

You have done me great honor Joe.. I am humbled and feel a spread of warmth inside. Please to see this wonderful reminder that Mary Ann just posted by one of the greats.. I did not know this poem.. but loved each and every line.. I think you may enjoy tonight.. xoxo here

    Dear Lina..
    would love to hear….
a brief and blurry writting may be…
about when do you see “death”...
not just in the images of journals, tv
not in the ones that have left us…
    but in there…..inside….
    Could you….
    a poetic licence of course..
    Ihave loved your poem…

death to the old self…....a very old concept, biblical in fact…..you breathed not only life into this but shone the light on the cleansing involved and the goodbyes that remain in us ….staining us a little too. My heart is a little heavy tonight, this is wise and loving for my heart to hear, xxxxxxxxxx
