Zir
this is a collaboration with Red
who is a huge inspiration to me as of late and this work sprang out of a conversation we had in bubble mail and the work we both embrace of allowing life to shine through words and our Beingness.. A Nature that has no label nor calls itself anything but Love.
This is from Reds bio.. and may help explain the meaning of the Title and word Zir.
“Below are some Gender Neutral Pronouns. If you do not know what Gender Neutral means please look it up on Google. I know it is hard to realize that their are more than two genders and sexes in the world.
The most popular gender neutral pronoun are “zie, zir, zir, zirs, zirself”.
Also GENDER has NOTHING to do with SEXUALITY. They are two very different things.”
well.. to quote one of Reds recent replies that blew me away …
“I am a human being. Full stop. And also why do I have to “define” myself. For who??? I already know who I am. Also the buddhists would say we are all “dust on the wind”. Also my writing stands ON ITS OWN.. I am not here for other people, my writing is here for other people.”

Zir.. first poem that stunned me.
I was reading the unreadable,
I couldn’t figure the words,
But I knew exactly what was being said.
Isn’t that great poetry?
The kind that uses all manner of
Connotation
Allegory
Metaphor
And Simile?
Zir does,
All the time,
Eloquent and precise
Like a blanket of meaning
For the open hearted,
That would be me…
That’s how I know Zir meaning,
I cover myself with Zir juice
From the middle lines.
In between all the words
I find Zir there,
Seductive and truthful
So truthful it hurts even Zir
Sometimes,
But Zir perseveres and does not
Let the common meanings go either.
Sometimes
That is all that is wanted,
Common ground,
Common Joy,
In the garden lush with verbs and adjectives
Fit for a King and Queen
I am wanting and spent and cannot image
My world with out Zir.
Zir is kind to me though.
Because Zir knows
My heart is there waiting
To be read
And savored
And loved.

Do you know, I was only just telling a friend of mine about how words have endless possibilities; the poetry I have read, the connections I have made, they make the world a place that shines light on idea’s, moments, thoughts, experiences.. words give us the freedom to sing at the top of our lungs, or curl up in dark corners. Thank you so much for this poem, however I see it more as a collaboration, I might have been the spark but you are the fire, and it really IS the common joys and also the willingness to embrace difference.. that is the sign of an old soul, a soul that has been on this planet many times before and realizes that we do not all have to sing the same song in order to hear the music within.
