Bench Banter #2
I don’t quite know what to do
As.. Here I am
Sitting on a bench for two.
I have contemplated all the ways of Love
Intrinsic
And Blue
I have meditated for 14 hours
On what could be called
The measure of Love’s Hue
Still…
This bench is crawling with yesterdays
Lovers,
I can feel it.
I can see their arms,
One round the other
I can see their nose
Immersed in the hair
Secreting smells from their morning
Showers
And bedtime folly
Some catnip craze
Limbs as liquid as the sea
Where here
On this bench
They spent their gaze
I can feel their quiet contemplation
Watching the sea,
With listless longing
..Maybe he’ll kiss me now.
..Maybe he’ll hold me closer,
..Maybe we’ll just stay like this forever
Eyes shut against the wind
Against times nagging serge
Bundled like a ball floating
United,
The two have merged
Just a bench for two,
And I as one,
Feel the sweetness of embrace
Feel the setting of the sun,
I don’t know what to do,
Except pen in hand
And heart that wishes
Get up and leave this bench
For other lovers
Other kisses.

Lovely writing, Lina—over-flowing with sensitivity! I have observed, participated and wondered many of the same things. The way you bring the reader into the moment with you is a rare gift.
I don’t know what to do,
Except pen in hand
And heart that wishes
Get up and leave this bench
For other lovers
Other kisses.
Such depth in understanding the human-heart with its complexity. What I admire most in your writing, beside the obvious talent, is your honesty. You are very brave, fearlessly showing your own participation and emotional investment in each poem. A beautiful spirit! Thank you for sharing another of your intricate and meditative tapestries.

Joe.. can I tell you that this comment has made the difference in my day.. I am having a tough one. Doubt and fear of who I am seems to want to rear their ugly heads.. I am going to invite them all in for tea and let them know in no uncertin terms they will be noticed but not entertained..xox
