I love that theme of continuation of mother to daughter, father to son. It is beautiful as well, when they stand in front of each other and looking to each other eyes and see themselves as a reflection of inner world which will live forever.

Such a simple idea, two faces, two generations yet one looking outward and the other taking care…

Just spotted this amazing image which somehow reminds me of ‘Memoires of a Geisha’ ... and even more so of the maiden, mother, crone stages in life. The maiden/mother’s beauty yet untouched by life’s experience with an expression of anticipation of what life may bring. The crone’s beauty shows wisdom, compassion and so it seems also happy memories….

You’d have taken pictures of a wild woman, sitting sideways on her parked Harley Davidson (with the lid from a can under the kick-stand), helmet on the handlebars, bent over a tiny bird held lying on its back in her hand. I suppose I was making those silly expressions we make when feeding a baby, lol! Yup, you’d have agotten some great photos! ROFL! And what if you’d caught me kissing a tiny little feathered belly! Then you’d have had a shot! No hot birds here in the land of water, though.

No-one has commented on their likeness – though they have commented on everything else! Don’t feel there is very much more for me to say, but I do like that they have ‘the same face’ divided only by time. And that the humour of the elderly one, shows she is not demeaned by age. If anything, it is the younger one with fair skin who appears apprehensive about what is before her. Like that it gets away from stereotypes.

Search the internet for comps in your own country, there will be many, even OS, they usually cost $ to enter but this is a great image, you should do it. National Geographic also have comps i think.
