Wind Moss
I loved this poem all through high school and my life really.. one of the classical pieces that seemed to have caught my heart. I was going through old journals.. I did very little writing in High Scool. I came across a very badly spelled version of this poem.
It brought back a sense of longing. Some feeling this.
Into the Twilight
Out-worn heart, in a time out-worn,
Come clear of the nets of wrong and right;
Laugh, heart, again in the grey twilight,
Sigh, heart, again in the dew of the morn.
Your mother Eire is always young,
Dew ever shining and twilight grey;
Though hope fall from you and love decay,
Burning in fires of a slanderous tongue.
Come, heart, where hill is heaped upon hill:
For there the mystical brotherhood
Of sun and moon and hollow and wood
And river and stream work out their will;
And God stands winding His lonely horn,
And time and the world are ever in flight;
And love is less kind than the grey twilight,
And hope is less dear than the dew of the morn.

Your photo works wonderfully with Yeats’ poem. Just the right illumination and texture—even the less vivid background shows greater light to be obtained by deeper journey. I have not read his brilliant work in years, but when I did read a lot of poetry, looking for kindred spirits, he was a favorite of mine. Often it is difficult to see light in dark times, but Yeasts so clearly, in this poem, speaks of eternal beauty and good that is ever present and will not be conquered.

It was so funny Devotee.. I was/am going thu old writing sometimes and I find these gems that I loved as a lonely walker on the beach by my home.. I was overweight and tall and ousted from the main group in 7th and 8th grade.. so I would take poetry books and read them and cry and sob and feel so wonderful all at the same time.. I would cut school and go with my dog.

I am so embarrassed and feel I have been so so stupid to not put you on my watchlist earlier – I don’t really understand why I didn’t – so so often I would see spectacular works of art come up under your name… Works that clearly show not just your beautiful artistry, but also so clearly show how you ‘see and feel’... which is, I sense, quite a beautiful thing…
