I’ve been missing making art with all the working going on. Missing it is good. It makes me appreciate how much I like doing it…. the making of the art, that is.

Because I have reduced making time… the things I do make are pretty spesh to me. This is a portrait of my Grandfather Stanley, one of my best friends, Godfather and inspiration.

I have painted Stan as a nineteen year old man (the age he was when he went to war). I borrowed the lighting from stills from the film THE MALTESE FALCON starring Humphrey Bogart. I think it worked just fine.

This painting is 5 × 7 inches. Acrylic.

All the best,
Limerick

Hi there L!!! Storming portrait Miss L, love that you’ve done it as a b&w. I’ve toyed with the idea of a b&w painting for a while but wasn’t sure if it would work. Ta daa there you go and prove it!

your sure hand with the brush is strong defined and a treasure to see, you do realise every painting you dont do is a crime against the god of creativity who gave you this talent to begin with….your gonna have to pay dividends on wasted expression in some form…..do more….do more now! i love the B/W pallet used to film noir sublimity……. :D

Great one Limerick – indeed reminds me to Humphrey Bogart when I read your text – before I thought of Kafka. Whatever…..I love the shadows and his atmoshere! Ruth
