Had a great day out with Andysax 12-12 2010 one of the places we visited was Yore Mill at Aysgarth a 4 storey Grade 11 listed building built in 1784 by the Birbeck family of Settle . It consists of 2 rows of cottages ,millers house, stables cart sheds, and a blacksmith shop.During it’s life it has been a woollen mill, corn mill, a flax and cotten mill and a stocking manufactory, . In 1852 the Yore Mill sustained heavy damage in a fire and was eventualyy closed and sold by auction . It was rebuilt in 1853 and operated untill 1958 when the mill was ised as a cattle food depot untill it was purchased by Paul Brown in 1968 .Part of the mill was sold to house the Yorkshire carriage Museum. which was opened the following year .
Yore Bridge is a highly ornamental bridge and was built much earlier than the mill in 1539. Rising 32 feet and crossing the River ure with a span of 71 feet . Lumix DMC-TZ6 .
