Had a great day out on Sunday 12 Dec. with Andysax .
Waterside Viaduct sometimes referred to as The Lune Viaduct near Sedberg Cumbria is on the disused railway that ran between Clapham Junction ( on the Leeds -Morecambe line ) and Lowgill on the West Coast main line .It is 530 foot long and carried the line 100 foot above the River Lune .Thus forming a route for the Midland Railway from Skipton to reach Scotland . However with so much rivalry between the London and North Western whose tracks the Midland had to use over Shap, the Settle to Carlisle was built and this line became a rural branch. Passenger service ceased 30th Jan, 1956 as a result of Dr Beeching and it was closed down in 1966 although it did become useful as a diversionary during the electrification of the West Coast line .It had some renovations in 2008 . The iron bridge has 3 arches either side of it but it was to much to get in my little compact from where I was . Lumix DMC-TZ6
