This is Tina she is about 13 years old .Her owner died and she lived outside for about 7 years so she is partly feral. We took her in when our cat of 20 years had to be put to sleep .It took months to persuade her to come in to the house we used to leave the back door and the door into the living room from the kitchen open hoping she would .

If she did and we closed the door it was panic stations .She used to go berserk.and we would have to let her out. We used to sit in the winter with the back door open and some food in a bowl for her in the kitchen .Often she would come in, eat it and be of before we knew it. We have had her 3 years now and she is a love .In the winter she hardly goes out .In the beginning when she had got used to staying in with us if anybody came in the house ( family or friends) she would disappear for the day .Now she even tolerates my daughters dog which is a German Shepherd . In the winter she used to lose all the fur of her belly and back legs and since being with us this hasn’t happened .
She is very much our cat now and spoilt more than I can say . She deserves it !!!
We had to have Tina put to sleep today 25th Feb 2010 . She had a gut tumour and hadn’t been well for a long time but she had a quality of life up to this week when she started to go downhill fast . On Wednesday we knew it was time to say goodbye . She gave us so much love and we will miss her .

progressed from holiday snaps to being serious about it just 3 years ago.I keep a compact camera in my handbag at all times .It is more convenient, an SLR is to heavy and complicated for me. I just like to point and shoot. I do enhance my images slightly with pseudo HDR on a single image. Now I have a hobby and a passion.

This is such a lovely story. I am so glad she decided to stay – and that you were so patient and persistent! She really does deserve some spoiling by the sounds of it.

  • Thank you Tiffany. She is well and truly our cat now . You would think with her being feral she would eat everything she is given but she is so funny about food .She eats one thing and we think great something she likes and then she goes off that and we waste so much . But thats cats I suppose . She has got us on a string .

Ha! Have exactly the same problem with my little tortoise shell baby. She’s got ideas above her station as a former street kid! :)

  • I think they test us to see how far we will go to please them You know what they say " You can lead a horse to water but you can’y make it drink" .

I sorry you lost her. it seems she had a long life.
I read you had to put her to sleep. on Thursday..
you took her in at an age that most people would have but her down.
    you have a good heart….

  • Thank you so much Nancy .You couldn’t help but love her she was so affectionate when she got over her fear of us .We think that now she was about 14 years . I know that if she had still been living outside she would have died before now .

I am so very sorry that sweet little Tina is no longer with us, what a wonderful thing you did in looking after her so well, and having the patience to encourage her with love.

I hope your precious memories will help ease the pain. She will not be forgotten.
