The sun sets on us all

The sun sets on this old house, in more ways than one. I believe it shall soon be no more, it’s life given for a a new housing estate. No-one lives there now, but soon there’ll be hundreds of little blocks with little houses and not-so-little morgages!

Stephen, you wouldnt believe it but it’s only 20 seconds from the town. Thanks for your comments!

Carlo, thanks for your comments. It’s cropped – I should have done a proper panorama but my wideangle was so good I didn’t think of that! It reminds me of the sort of place that you could sit on the veranda and watch the sun go down…..

great panoramic view! Love the colors! I got a tad bit sad when I read what was happening to it. Sometimes progress sucks! Beautiful job on the photo and great little place. It`s a shame.

Thanks Starr – I agree. Sometimes cows graze in front of it, and I wonder where they’ll go when the subdividers arrive…..

That’s such a scary though, little blocks and not so little mortgages….but really we are nearly all living in places that used to look like this…...and that’s even more depressing!

Anyway, its a fabulous shot, love those clouds!

Thanks Mel – you’re right. The land gets smaller, the morgages get bigger, and the countryside slowly dissapears.

Great panorama. The writing is so sad.

Thanks for your comments – I am grateful for each one.

Thanks Rose. So far the house is still there. I’m hoping to get another opportunity to do a full quality panorama before it vanishes.

wow~!! love this shot ~ colors, light and the way the cloud above the house is like “tipping its hat” :)

  • lightsmith replied

thanks Linda. I admit I did wait on that cloud to get there. Fortunately it was moving at a reasonable rate LOL

Beautiful capture. Great colour. What a shame that it can’t remain the same – Such character in these old places!

Alas, so much heritage is lost. This one will live in my images at least – and probably quite a few others. One day I am sure there’ll be no trace of it, just a load of modern houses. Nice looking ones, but comparitively soul-less. Thanks for your comment blossom.
