Firebird

A composite of an airshow picture and a recent harvest moon. I don’t normally do composites but I guess a change is as good as a rest. LOL. I’d like to do a sacred ibis against that moon – I have one so i’ll try that next. Let me know what you think when/if you view this one.

You might like to compare this one to my other – Sacred Night

I tried desperately to come up with some romantic slogan like ‘your love flies me to the moon’ but it just doesnt fit an afterburner does it! Thanks for your comments guys!

Very neat concept. As a bit of an aviation buff, I do like this image. Not sure the afterburner flame is quite to spec, though. Still very cool.

Many thanks for these comments. I will see if I can locate a suitable ibis for a followup. I was a little unsure about it because I am not normally into creating this sort of picture, but your encouragement is very much appreciated.

The afterburner is exactly as taken (not a flicker or a flame omitted or added) but I’m not really an aviation expert – just photographed what I saw and then relegated it to the ‘boring’ basket until this idea came up. Any suggestions will be welcome.

    Very good image.
Reminds me a bit of ET riding his bike past the moon…...must be a 21st Century ET….

This ‘afterburn’ shot is not exactly afterburn. The pilot selects to dump fuel and then flicks on the ‘burner, net result is neat fuel being on fire. Great party trick that the Aussies used to great effect at the opening of their olympics a few years ago. Nice shot btw!

Ok, thanks Dougie. They might have explained that at the time but I was half defeaned so probably would have missed it. I wondered how they did it :) – certainly is spectacular when you’re there. Looking forward to the next airshow big time!
