awww… sweet pic. I can see the “French Lieutenant” now, just patting his puppy in pride….
lightsmith replied
Maybe I should have called it ‘Faithful’ because probably not that many people have heard of the book – The French Lieutenant’s Woman.

I’m sorry to say i’m one of them.

It’s not my sort of book, I will confess. But the title is very remminiscent of this scene I thought…..
For some reason no one seems interested in this image though….. maybe it’s not that good?

The eager expectation of return….....sigh
lightsmith replied
Maybe I should re-title it ‘Lost at Sea’ or ‘Seafarers Lost’.....

Homecoming?
Yearning?
(I probably should stop—I feel an attack of puns coming on…....totally not what you want for this beautiful image!)

The book was ok, the movie was better, I just don’t remember the pooch.
Must have been a different story.

The pooch was my ‘improvement’ to the story – and I suspect because the image reminded me of one particular cover of the book

Beautifully composed with image and words ,great work ! l love the treatment on this too !
lightsmith replied
Thanks – it’s one of my favourites. Even in silhouette, the dog seems so intent on it’s staring out to sea…..

great shot!
(even with the ‘wonky’ horizon) . . . :)
lightsmith replied
I was tempted to straighten it but life’s too straight anyway, and you know I like odd perspectives LOL

The French Lieutenant’s Dog! I had to read that at school – along with The Spaniel In The Rye and Lord Of The Dingos.
lightsmith replied
Ha! I remember those books. VERY disappointed with ‘Lord of the’ cos we all thought it was gunna be RINGS! We all thought the author of RYE was nuts (not the spaniel) and yes, The French Lieutenant bit of stuff was rather a dog he he he he he he he
