This old Akubra is a bit like that old jumper that I should have thrown out 10 or so years ago.
It has history. It’s been places with me. We’ve done stuff!
It shielded me 20 years ago when I first traversed the Overland Track.
It’s kept the sun off my face on countless days at the beach.
Its been sat on and it’s been frequently squashed by a carload of gear.
It’s been driven over, it’s been folded up and it’s been lost for weeks at a time.
It has been used as a bucket and I can jam it in my camera bag.
Whenever I head out taking pics now its still my first choice of headgear even though I have a brand new one.
I think it’s days of being a bucket might be numbered though.
It ‘s a lens shade for wide angle flare prevention and it’s a great umbrella for the camera on the odd occasion.
Here it is, taking a well deserved rest in Weindorfers Waldheim Cottage in the Cradle Mountain Lake St Clair National Park.

I loved reading the history of this hat ~ and yet so much is wordlessly told and known in your framing of it here ~ :) xx

  • Thank you Linda, “the hat” has actually made it to the pages of redbubble before believe it or not.
Thanks to another bubbler (oddoutlet) that time though.

certainly more functional than the failed cake beanie…..although not so comical!!
    Nice mono Garth, well done!

  • Thank you Murph.
Hey!! leave the balaclava alone, it’s a very functional piece of headgear. My second favourite hat actually …. and not much chance of being pinched LOL!

I have a pair of underwear like that, I just haven’t gotten around to shooting them yet. Wonderful light play here, just enough of a reveal to draw the eye in. Nicely done.

  • Thanks Bob, much appreciated.
Just a note before you photograph the “Reg Grundies” though.
I snapped this shot after I’d worn the hat for 3 days in a row, and on this third day for 14 hours straight before I plonked it down in the light.
Ya gonna do the same with your pic?
