This old Akubra is a bit like that old jumper that I should have thrown out 10 or so years ago.
It has history. It’s been places with me. We’ve done stuff!
It shielded me 20 years ago when I first traversed the Overland Track.
It’s kept the sun off my face on countless days at the beach.
Its been sat on and it’s been frequently squashed by a carload of gear.
It’s been driven over, it’s been folded up and it’s been lost for weeks at a time.
It has been used as a bucket and I can jam it in my camera bag.
Whenever I head out taking pics now its still my first choice of headgear even though I have a brand new one.
I think it’s days of being a bucket might be numbered though.
It ‘s a lens shade for wide angle flare prevention and it’s a great umbrella for the camera on the odd occasion.
Here it is, taking a well deserved rest in Weindorfers Waldheim Cottage in the Cradle Mountain Lake St Clair National Park.
