This one may obey some photographic rule that I am unaware of, and that may be why it works for me, or it may work just because its my son – but I have read many times – “Don’t have people looking out of a photo, have them looking in”.
So this is a rulebreaker of sorts.
But my Golden Rule #2 always was – Learn the rules and why they apply … and then be prepared to break them.
I chose this title because Breaking the Rules also applies to playing in the intertidal suck zone. Especially when there’s a swell running. I’m sure someone told me not to do that when I was a kid. If they didnt, they should have.
But kids will be kids, and here is my youngest boy – bashing stand up waves ( almost as tall as himself) with a stick, and then running up the black sand and pebble beach out of the way before they run him down.
Needless to say – sooner rather than later – one did run him down and he got wet up to the waist.
I’m glad we both broke the rules – its what life is about, learning which rules you can safely break.
