I love being up at 4:00 am.
I hate getting up at 3:30am.
And when you need to do things during the day, staying up from yesterday isn’t always an option.
But, this particular morning was one of the best early rises I have probably ever had.
To be here in this magnificent silent wilderness in the snow and ice and light was amazing. To see it turn from black, to grey, to blue, to purple and then burst into orange/apricot in the clouds was amazing.
This pano was taken in the minutes before the sun burst over the horizon. Rob and I were patient, and beyond words. We were waiting for the light.

Sensational work, Garth. And I love your description… I think that’s half of the “magic” of photography… waiting and hoping and having it (occasionally) pay off :) :) :)

  • Thank you very much Mieke

Love seeing this Garth..great you got some Fagus in the left hand side there. I’ve yet to work on my pano from here. It’ll be same but different’ish….What a morning..!!

  • Thank you Rob, the pano actually goes around another 4 shots but I kept it to 5 because they get too small on the net if you make them too long. I quite liked the comp of this one though.
