I gained a true appreciation of Twisted Lakes this trip. I had seen wonderful photos of the area before but had never really spent time there in good light. It always seemed that I was on my way somewhere else or the area was looking ordinary.
This time I came though in light muted by drizzle which brought out magical soft tonal detail, and then a few days later I came through with harsh sidelight which brought out some wonderful detail and shadowy contrast.
I couldn’t help but be reminded of a perfectly crafted Japanese Garden, acres and acres of it.

I can’t wait for next years trip back there now.

Certainly a beautiful spot….and I reckon, heaps of opportunities still to get that unique shot in…it’s still a bit of a challenge as it’s so often photographed. The fagus was particularly awesome this year with all the little patches of red. Yes, can’t wait till next year as well…

  • Yes, for me it is all new there, I have hardly explored there at all (which sounds really silly). Now to work on conditions and angles, fagus, snow, sunset, sunrise, perfect reflections. Like you said, try to find a unique or killer shot there.
