Stunning color, texture and mist, great composition! love the misty purple tones! Dee

  • Garth Smith replied

Hi Dee, thank you, the lovely purple tones provided by the predawn sun glowing and bouncing through grey clouds Hardly noticeable to the eye but caught magically by the camera.

  • Anne O'Connor

    Anne O'Connor

Super Garth. Love the misty look. Twas an early rising this morning I assume.

  • Garth Smith replied

Thanks Anne, not too early really, up at 6 for about a just before 7 am shoot. Quite a sleep in compared to some of the December shoots where it was up at 4 for a 5am shoot. Looking forward to winter LOL. Maybe it will be up at 7 for an 8 am shoot. Or maybe shift to Alaska and take predawn shots all day!!!

  • Andrew Murrell

    Andrew Murrell

Love the texture of the rocks, they look murderous and sharp. The movement of the water makes the rocks look even more sinister, like there may be something bad lurking JUST below. A really MOODY image….

  • Garth Smith replied

Thank you very much Andrew and sorry I missed your comments til now. Great comments and exactly what I hoped for when I took the shot. You have summed it up perfectly.

  • Jared D White

    Jared D White

Your long exposure work is phenominal!
This one in particular is perfectly framed and captured, well done

  • Garth Smith replied

Thank you very much Jared, I learnt by checking out the brilliant photographers work here and by attempting to get the same feel as they did. And I am still finding stuff and going “Wow, I wish I took that” its great, I love it. The fact that I love being down on the foreshore rocks at dawn and dusk helps too!

  • Garth Smith replied

Actually this sort of shot is the reason I bought my DSLR, I had a 12X compact but it was just no good for these sort of shots.
