You can't see me!!!!
A startled raccoon attempts invisibility. Not sure who was most startled, me Solomon or the raccoon! He hissed furiously as we approached and I was not sure what it was initially. He kept hoping that we could not see him and I told Solomon he was a quite a cat to tree a raccoon.

I did not know they climbed trees either! There was a loud crashing and hissing. I was very relieved to see him run up the tree.

Shelagh!
Sorry to put a damper on your excitement, but racoons are nocturnal creatures. If they are out during the day they could be rabid. Please be careful! I had to fight one off one year at our favorite lake.
It came out when we first got there, and then went away as I started the cooking fire. As soon as I put the burgers on the grill it came back around.
I had a giant long stick to fend it off, and I got a smokey campfire going. He finally backed off, but we didn’t stick around.
They can be very aggressive! Take care, Linda

Thank you Linda. I was sadly aware of this and greatly relieved that he ran from me. I have called all my neighbors to warn them. His attempts to hide behind the tree trunk were humorous though.
