Colored wax block. Do they sell such a thing for paintings? Are they for candle makers?

No not for candlemakers, these blocks are made special for encaustic paintings. A different way for painting but very addictive also.

i buy mine from someone who only sells encaustic tools and wax and supplies.. i know encaustic is done all over the world. not all using it in the same way, but all in need of a heating tool in order to be able to work with it.

Yes some artists make their own wax.. that way you can make any colour you need, it is a bit more difficult to mix colours when using wax..
