Evolution

The crush was tender
In the beginning,
A new leaf
Opening its eyes
To that first caress
Of sunshine.
I was falling then;
Absorbed,
A blushing belle
Tempted by a silent promise
Toasted with wine.
The splendour was a surprise
In the beginning,
A newborn
Discovering that first taste
Of mother’s scent.
I was needing then;
Rejected,
A song of lament
Hollowed by the will
Of a wild tempest.
The rain fell softly
In the beginning;
A new clarity
Building slowly to that final
Explosive crescendo.
I was calm then;
Enlightened,
A new design
Revived by the process
Of being hidden and sold.
