Leaves of russet, gold and scarlet
practicing pirouettes and lively leaps,
danced upon a sunlit stage
until the final soloist of autumn,
entrancing in her crimson tutu,
trembled, took one last charming twirl
then drifted delicately en pointe
to take her graceful closing bow.
Antanas
Very beautiful work about autumn
lianne replied
thank you so much Antanas – I so love the season but it lasts too short a time! I’m so glad you liked it!
Nanmarie
A dance with Autumn – how gorgeous this is Lianne.
lianne replied
Thank you Nancy – on a breezy late autumn day it does feel like that! Wish the season lasted a little longer before we get that dreaded snow! (Though truth to tell, I love every season here!)
Nanmarie
Me too Lianne and as Fall and Spring go by now with the blink of an eye, I love them all the more. This season for me is the absolute best. A time of renewal and filled with warm colors.
lianne replied
Oh I so agree – and I love those crisp late afternoons and the frosty mornings too – just wish the color would hold a little longer. It so brightens the view!! And the spirits!
jacqi

Del Millar
A Very beautiful piece Lianne !! Love it oxo
lianne replied
Thank you Del – in keeping with OUR season lol – but hardly with yours where all is coming into full and glorious bloom! When the last leaf falls and trees are bare against a cold sky, it makes me happy to think that it’s summer where you are! So glad you liked it Del.

Oh, how I’ve missed reading you daily….this poem represents my favorite things about you as a poet: such well-chosen, well-placed words, indelible imagery…sometimes the way you describe beauty the rest of us neglect makes my heart tremble! Hope you’re well.
