I Want to Remember
I Want to Remember belongs to the following groups:
All Things Poetic, Artistic, Philosophical, Two Beings Group and WMGI want to remember
how it felt to love you -
the soaring anticipation
of the moment I would see
the sunrise in your eyes.
I want to remember
that I loved the way
your voice, as warm
as a soft summer evening
wrapped me in its embrace.
I want to remember
the way your smile
graced me with blessing
as delicate as moonlight,
as sparkling as stars.
I want to remember
that when I touched you
I felt suddenly one, whole,
a sense of the sacred,
enlightened, divine.
I want to remember
how I loved loving you
for love is an end unto itself,
loving is its own reward –
and I remember.

Very beautiful! One of the loveliest poems I have ever read. And if in reality it is not to remember a certain individual, then the poem is to remember love, and by doing so to keep love alive in your heart for new experience. Brava!
lianne replied
Joe, my dear friend – what a very lovely thing to say! Certainly we must keep love in our hearts always and open to all loving in this beautiful universe. Your comment means a great deal to me!

Beautiful Lianne. “loving is it’s own reward…..” and it is. x
lianne replied
Yes, it is – that doesn’t mean we don’t wish to have our love returned but we can’t expect or demand that as a fair exchange for what we freely give and for what reward we get from the giving. I’m so glad you liked this Velvet – and I thank you for your lovely comment.
Jboo09

Oh Jenny we are never really alone – or as that line in P.S. I Love You says – we are alone together! What a lovely and generous thing to say, my friend. And you write every bit as movingly and inspiringly and I’m looking forward to seeing it soon! Thank you!
cathrinedp
This has touched me and reminded me that remembering, however painful it may be at times, is sacred and neccesary.
lianne replied
Yes it can be terribly painful, especially if we are still feeling the loss of such love – but, it also helps us to remember the joy, what we learned about loving another just because… Thank you so much Cathrine – I’m touched and honored by your comment and your favoriting this work (which just happens to be my own personal favorite as well).
cathrinedp
I recently wrote something about remembering too, although it is more on the sad side. Your work brings light to remembering. You are most welcome. You write beautifully
