Irish cottage
Have to admit I’m posting this only on a promise to my most wonderful friend, Saleire! This is a portion of a painting I did years ago – an acrylic on canvas. It was done as a gift for a friend born and raised in Ballyhadreen Ireland who had only a tiny 2×3 inch wrinkled black and white photo of her family home which had long since been leveled. That’s what I worked with to try to recreate it for her. Thank God she was no art critic because she didn’t mind the primitive technique at all and years later this painting was one of the few things she managed to save from the ravages of Hurricane Katrina that almost destroyed her home.

You call it primitive technic, Lianne, I think this is a gorgeous art work. I love the composition, the colors are lovely. It has a beautiful warm, friendly, inviting tone to it. I really like it a lot.

What a delightful picture, it is gorgeous, lovely artwork and gorgeous colours. I am sure your friend was absolutely thrilled with it, as will Saleire.
devotee1, 4 months ago
I like it also—cheerful use of color. Looks like a wonderful place to live, walk the peaceful countryside, chat with friendly neighbors tending to their gardens.

Well, then, we should all be thanking Saleire, otherwise, we would never have gotten to see this lovely painting! the only painting I’ve ever done is the by-the-numbers kind (HAHAHA), so I have the deepest respect for those who can put brush to canvas and have it actually look like something….very pretty painting, Lianne. Thank you for sharing it with us.
lianne in reply to greeneyedlady’s comment, 4 months ago

And why do you call this primitive? It is lovely and it went into my favourites. I should love to live in such a little cottage. You have painted it artistically and well.
lianne in reply to AngelArtist’s comment, 4 months ago
Thank you so much Angel – I’m really humbled by your favoriting this and so appreciate that you liked it so well. Your comments are always so lovely and encouraging, my friend!
Arie, 4 months ago
I nearly missed this one, sorry for that Lianne. But what you have created here is a perfect painting of a scenery in well chosen colours. The different kinds of green, the brighter spots that let’s you wander all over the whole scenery, the perspective use is brilliant….this road just pulls you right into the centre of the painting, the use of shadows and colours create an atmosphere of an inviting and cosy place to be.
Well done Lianne….please do some more!
lianne in reply to Arie’s comment, 4 months ago
Oh my heavens Arie – coming from one whose artistry is incomparable I’m just honestly overwhelmed. I have not painted in many many years and as I said, only a few paintings even then. But I seem to have finally found that I have more time now so perhaps I’ll dig out the brushes. No clue where I’ll get some inspiration however – lol. Your comment honestly means the world to me Arie, my friend – I can’t thank you enough for being so gracious and encouraging. Just thank you!

You are a true artist Liane. Not only can you write wonderful & emotional pieces, but your excellent artist’s eye, see beauty in small things when you paint & take pics, as well! Brilliant work dear friend!
lianne in reply to Mariaan Krog’s comment, 4 months ago
Mariaan – I am so touched by your comments, my dear friend. I’m still more comfortable with a pen in hand though I’ve only written a few things in the past couple of weeks but I am finding a lot of pleasure in photography lately and just might take up the brushes again as well. You encourage me to do that with your lovely and far too generous comments, my wonderful friend!
adgray, 3 months ago
I cannot improve on the comments posted here especially arie’s he is dead right! This is a gorgeous piece of art that captures the audience and draws it into it’s warm embrace – like all the best homes and homecomings do!
Gorgeous Lianne!
They say australians are all round artists – sing dance act and ride horses etc … but really I believe that if you are artistic you can be good at all genre’s of art you just focus and excell in one or two genres. You have shown us that not only do you write brilliantly you take amazing photos and so it is no surprise that you have a good artistic talent for painting, painting being just the next step from seeing the composition either in reality – photographed – or in your minds eye and thus created in whatever genre you want!
B R A V O my friend B R A V O !!! :o) ♥
