I’m a 62 year old mother of two, grandmother of 8 and after years of hiatus, I’ve taken up the pen again and find that the world is more beautiful, more interesting, more wondrous than ever before. I can say honestly that the impetus to write again came from the influence of a wonderful woman I know and I thank her for her encouragement and her inspiration.

Photography is a very new interest for me and it’s not my first love but I’m truly loving the learning process and observing the very best of RB to do that. And the art – well – that too is both a rarity and not my first love. My first love remains writing – I’ll leave the real artistry to so many others of you here at Red Bubble who add beauty to the world with your art.

My very first collection of poems is now available from the Blurb bookstore – Songs of the Heart’s Longing

For readers in the US only who are interested in purchasing a copy, please contact me by bubble mail. If you order it directly from me I can absorb the excessive shipping charges imposed on single copy orders.

So much of my inspiration and encouragement to write has come from my most beloved friend, Saleire who created this masterpiece, The Writer’s Quill to remind me that writing is art too and that mine speaks to her as her art does to me.

I’ve been blessed indeed by some wonderful moments of “synchronicity” since I’ve been a member here. A few months ago, a wonderful artist and great friend, Nancy Fischer posted this wonderful b/w study called “Sorrow” at exactly the same time as I was posting a poem called “Invalidity.” We decided to post them together – such coincidences have meaning. Her photo went on to win second place in a b/w photo competition

And just the other day, the incomparable and dearly loved LindaR uploaded the most exquisite photo, “Evening Song” with a beautiful poem at the same moment I was posting “Evensong.” These kinds of magical connections and wavelengths seem to happen often here at RB.

The artistry of Lina and her inspiring photo Into the Night resulted in another wonderful collaboration and even better, a new friendship so I’m very proud to share her work with you here.

And I’m so very proud to share an image by my very dear friend butchart called “Cosmogenesis” which was inspired by my poem of the same title.

If you’d rather reach me off bubble, you can at liannels@rochester.rr.com

Thank you Red Bubble for opening a new world of artistry to me and for bringing so many talented new friends into my life. What joy in the sharing!
