Venice - on the Grand Canal by

The Grand Canal forms one of the major water-traffic corridors in Venice.. Public transport is provided by water buses (vaporetti) and private water taxis, and many tourists explore the canal by gondola.
At one end, the canal leads into the lagoon near the Santa Lucia railway station and the other end leads into Saint Mark Basin; in between, it makes a large S-shape through the central districts of Venice. It is 3,800 m long, 30–90 m wide, with an average depth of five meters (16.5 ft).
The banks of the Grand Canal are lined with more than 170 buildings, most of which date from the 13th to the 18th century.

I live in the UK and in 2011 when I joined Red Bubble, started experimenting with different settings and angles. I enjoy finding suitable pictures of flowers, Scotland, reflections, lamps and seats and have now branched out into different subjects.
In 2013 I finally realised my dream of visiting Australia and New Zealand. Whilst there I purchased a Pentax camera so have been able to expand my portfolio of flower macros among other new and exciting subjects.

This is a lovely shot, do you remember I went on a school trip there :)

  • No!! I had forgotten that. I remember you went to Dubrovnic – was it in the same trip? Super scenery there. Thanks for commenting

Oh, I wish I was speeding on that boat now – your image is great, it really makes me feel I am there, in the water approaching Venice.

  • Thanks Alexandra for your lovely encouraging remarks.
