A fun shot on Knockan Crag near Ullapool. This is a stone sculpture made by a local artist. There are several different sculptures crafted from local stones all by different local artists. This huge ball is just one of them.

I live in the UK and in 2011 when I joined Red Bubble, started experimenting with different settings and angles. I enjoy finding suitable pictures of flowers, Scotland, reflections, lamps and seats and have now branched out into different subjects.
In 2013 I finally realised my dream of visiting Australia and New Zealand. Whilst there I purchased a Pentax camera so have been able to expand my portfolio of flower macros among other new and exciting subjects.

You could not afford to slip in this situation.

  • Certainly not! Someone has asked for a description so here is a copy for you: This is a piece of rock art found on Knockan Crag, which is a Geopark just outside Ullapool in the Western Isles. There are 5 pieces of rock art on the walks around the Crag. The five artists who created the rock art pieces – Frances Pelly, Susheila Jamieson, Joe Smith, Jim Buchanan and Valerie Pragnell – have sought to capture the spirit of Knockan. Not sure which one created this big ball, but it is huge!

Thanks for the info about it. We spent time in Ullapool but never went on a walk to the Crag.

A wonderful Town Giant if I ever did see one. Thanks for sharing it in our group. Would love to accept the other 4 sculptures you mention as well. Cheers.

  • Thanks for your comments. I only have photos of one other sculpture on Knockan Crag which I will post up now. The big ball was definitely the best sculpture.
