Bougainvillea is a genus of flowering plants native to South America. It is a
thorny, woody vine growing up to 12 m tall, The actual flower of the plant is small and generally white, but each cluster of three flowers is surrounded by three or six bracts with the bright colours associated with the plant, including pink, magenta, purple, red, orange, white, or yellow. (paraphrased from Wikipedia)
This specimen was found in Russell (formerly Kororareka) in the Bay of Islands, New Zealand.(North Island)

Camera used: Pentax K30

I live in the UK and in 2011 when I joined Red Bubble, started experimenting with different settings and angles. I enjoy finding suitable pictures of flowers, Scotland, reflections, lamps and seats and have now branched out into different subjects.
In 2013 I finally realised my dream of visiting Australia and New Zealand. Whilst there I purchased a Pentax camera so have been able to expand my portfolio of flower macros among other new and exciting subjects.
