The Prey

Here, is where we live together.
Where we expose ourselves,
the deepest moments,
the greatest hurts,
the biggest triumphs,
and tremendous joys.

We let go here.
Our hair flies free.
The bra comes off,
the lips unseal and filters get lost.
When you are not here,
you are missed.
The empty space, gapes.

This is our commune,
our kibbutz,
our ‘other’ address.
This is where we come,
to become. Exposed.

This is the mind-controlled drug,
the Kool-aid poison.
They learned fast how to do it,
get it, find that space
which we could not resist.

Utilizing human’s desperate need to connect.
Instantaneous reunion; and in that,
They sit and They watch. They learn,
and we give. We give more and more,
and They observe. Taking notes.
Building files.

When they come to attack us,
who are we to cry? Who are we to scream
“Rape” when we’ve given it all up.
Is it really our fault?
Do we blame the victim who wears a short skirt
and too heavy make-up,
Who rides the wave and grabs a score?

This is our short skirt. Our heavy make-up,
Our wave, our score.
And the predator continues to watch its prey.
The easy target. The wounded fawn.
They know… They know…
We told Them. We showed Them.

Now, we just sit and wait.
Are we ready for the pounce?
Do we protect, or give in and “enjoy”?
We speak of revolution, are we ready?

Will guns and arms fight the fight?
Or is it battle of wills, mind control,
and releasing the drug from our system.
Are we ready for withdrawl?

Hello, how are you. Nice to meet you,
Nice to greet you. Goodbye. Good luck.
See you on the Other Side, of whatever,

Frightening thought. One I worry about. Not so much for me but for those who never understood the value of privacy and why it is important – weakened walls here, the ‘need’ to know there – it could all be gone. You have found the words and the imagery to tell the world. Great work!

  • Thank you so much for your comment. Yes, it is something that is often in the back of my mind. It is very scary to think of all the information that we put out there for other’s to grab. I truly appreciate your comment. ♥

Great writing on this huge issue!! Facebook is being sued for allegedly selling details of private messages to advertisers without users’ consent, and this is only the tip of the iceberg. Trying to get the balance of being informed about these issues, being cautious, but also not letting fear and paranoia destroy peace, ease and openness, as our societies are losing quality of life because of ‘fear’ of this, fear of that… it’s a difficult one! Thanks for exploring it here Leyla :))

  • Thanks Alison. Really appreciate your comment. We are definitely living in a time and space aren’t we? Interesting to see where this will all lead us.
