On January 31st 2011, about 200 supporters of the demonstrations in Egypt, and freedom and democracy in Egypt (and Middle East) gathered in Tempe Arizona to protest against the government of Hosni Mubarak, and freedom and democracy for the entire Middle East.
Those who gathered came from all walks of life, students, parents, children; and from various countries, Egypt, Jordan, Palestine, America, and me… Hong Kong.
Together we stood in solidarity for our brothers and sisters in the Middle East – Egypt and Tunisia, in a very loud, but yet peaceful demonstration.
One of the coolest things was when an American young lady walked up to me and said “As’salaam alaikum”, and then asked me if this was something anyone could join in with. I told her to grab a sign and join us!
Another really cool experience was when a fire truck came around the corner and blasted their horn in support.
It shows that it is not just Arabs, Egyptians, or even Muslims who are supporting Egypt, but AMERICANS from ALL walks of life!
