Lynnette Shelley kicked off a challenge in her journal article the other day and the rest is history… Glad I can contribute in some small way, even though my own scribbling skills leave a lot to the imagination ;)

Here’s the curated layout as submitted. Unfortunately Caroline Roberti ‘s scribbler masterpiece (top right image) couldn…

Introduction into the world of Bubblers who curate the hp

I logged in this morning to discover that my design just breathe was featured on the redbubble homepage. Of course, I missed it by a couple of hours!! Very exciting, and I’m quite honoured that my tee was featured among such a high caliber of designs.

Take me away tees

just breathe appeared on the homepage as part of a curated selection called Take me away tees by Mieke Boynton

I have often wondered how the redbubble hp is curated but I just assumed it was curated by redbubble staff. And of course that’s true, but only partly so. Redbubble staff do make the final selection, but only after a red bubbler like you and me has spent hours and hours scouring the site for work that fits their curated theme. And they have a real eye for it, such amazing collections!

My Physical World Promotion - Post Mortem

So I did it. I took flyers promoting my work to the roller derby and anxiously waited to see if anyone would pick them up!! It was a bit of a nerve-wrecking experience at the start, but by the end of the night I was fine ;)

With a little encouragement and advice from my partner, I started by leaving flyers in the “powder rooms”. At the first break I went to find that some of the flyers had been taken, and that gave me greater courage to place them in front of some of the registers at the bars. I could see one of the bars from my seat and saw people start to pick them up, look them over both sides and pop them in their pockets!

Of course, not everyone looked at them and not everyone…

Promoting my work in the physical world

Last weekend I checked out the great resources over at Ministry of Selling Volume 1 – a new invite only group that has focused on developing marketing skills to promote your portfolio. You have to be a member of the group to write posts in the discussions (which I’m not), but anyone can read the discussions and there are video posts by red bubble to get the ideas flowing. They ran the group over 6 weeks and there are videos to watch from week 2 to 5. You can check them out here

I thought I’d give some of the ideas a go and started this week by refreshing my profile page. I’m also going to try promoting some of my work in the real world – which I have never done and is a tad scary! I’m going to focus on my roller derby designs and hopefull…
